About Trustee Risk

Empowering South African trustees to reduce personal liability through structured governance assessment and risk identification.

Our Mission

Trustee Risk exists to help body corporate trustees, homeowners' associations, and community schemes understand and mitigate their governance risk exposure. We believe that trustees deserve access to clear, structured assessment tools that identify vulnerabilities before they become liabilities.

Under the Sectional Titles Schemes Management Act (STSA) and Common Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) regulations, trustees face significant personal liability for governance failures. Our assessment helps trustees understand their exposure and take corrective action within 90 days.

Why We Started

We observed that most trustees operate in reactive mode — addressing governance issues only after complaints, disputes, or CSOS enforcement actions. By that point, personal liability exposure is already significant.

Trustee Risk was created to shift this dynamic. We provide a proactive, structured assessment that identifies governance gaps before they escalate into disputes. Our Board Survival Score gives trustees a clear baseline and a 90-day action plan to reduce their personal liability.

How We Help

  • Structured Assessment: A 5-minute questionnaire covering 10 critical governance areas aligned with STSA requirements.
  • Board Survival Score: A numerical score (0–100) reflecting your scheme's governance posture and personal liability exposure.
  • Exposure Category: Classification as Low, Moderate, High, or Critical with actionable remediation guidance.
  • 90-Day Action Plan: A personalized toolkit with governance templates, compliance checklists, and best practices tailored to your scheme's risk profile.
